Will Elite Trader please take a stand against dangerous anti-vaxxer bullshit?

Actually, it would be a lot of work, imo! Manually or writing new code. Maybe there's already code written for this by now?

Maybe @Magna can enlist volunteers, to do the initial, internal flagging; and he could afterward do a final check? This would lighten his workload. You know anyone willing to volunteer? :D
Except that it's largely, but not exclusively, limited one forum, Politics.

I'm not much of a joiner.

I'm not sure small websites should be held to the same standards as large ones. Nor am I sure how to determine which are large or small.

I do know that with businesses, sometimes smaller companies are exempt from certain regulations, or are held to less stringent regulations, than their larger counterparts.

IOW, there are no easy answers with this topic.
Smaller web sites need not have as comprehensive a screening mechanism as large ones. But that is not an excuse to avoid all responsibility. Again, it need not be a black and white, all or nothing kind of thing. A few protective measures with some reasonable oversight would go a long way. Just my opinion. But thus far ET has done nothing whatsoever to quell the streaming bullshit.

If Whoopie loses her gig, she can join this thread.

She'll be banned for awhile for expressing her views (opinions). My point, there is censorship via permanent bans, temporary bans, message post deletion, thread closure, or public warnings.
  • The key is to not look like you're "arguing" but only expressing your different views.
Personally, when someone then intentionally posts misinformation/disinformation about vaccines in a Pandemic...they've crossed another line into lying that's far beyond the scope of "arguing" (expressing a different view).

In the old days, people use to post facts to debate the facts by another person assuming they wanted to express their views.

Today, thanks to social media, I'm confident I can post misinformation/disinformation here at Elitetrader.com about Elvis Presley dropping dead from his Covid Vaccination to show that vaccines are dangerous, and my message post will never be deleted even after multiple complaints by others because I'm expressing my views.

Yet, if I post the same above bullshit elsewhere about Elvis...like on Twitter or Facebook, Youtube...it will immediately be flagged and/or deleted by someone or by an algorithm.

Another way to look at this...the TOU policy needs to be updated about issues related to the Pandemic considering we're in the middle of a Pandemic and some of the key issues at this forum that's being posted by traders...involves the Pandemic.

A Tibetan monk has been discovered in the mountains of Nepal. He is considered the oldest person in the world at 201 years old.

He is in a state of deep trance or meditation called "takatet".

When he was first discovered in a mountain cave they thought he was a mummy.

However scientists examining what they thought was a mummy discovered that he had vital signs and was alive!

Among his things, they found a piece of paper that said, "Stop believing all the bullshit you read on the Internet"

So it's either detailed specificity or nothing? That black and white?

The other social media seem to have derived some standards of conduct, and they didn't rely on me to arrive at them. As I already noted in my prior post, how about not letting imbeciles talk about bullshit global conspiracies and the dangers of (proven) vaccines, while touting malaria and worm drugs as the answer to the pandemic? Is that specific enough?

Fred, are you trying to say there are no dangers at all from vaccinations?

This article from 1999 says this is not correct. And this is just one example.

Public should be told that vaccines may have long term adverse effects (nih.gov)
