it's a strange thing, me agreeing with stu, but they have the right to do it, just like a private wedding photographer has the right to deny his service to a gay couple*. I don't see how the show can continue or how the other family members would agree to if they kicked their patriarch off.
I'm pretty sure they can find another channel more easily than A & E can find another top-tated show.
