Will Cocoa Price Ever Come Down?

Ags are boom-bust markets. Bad weather or supply upheaval will eventually pass, acreage will explode for the coming season(s) as farmers rush to cash in on the high prices, and those prices will eventually collapse back to the long term equilibrium.

This is not wheat or corn. It takes years for a newly planted cocoa tree to produce fruit.

At this price, I'm afraid I won't be able to afford my favorite hot cocoa or a box of Godiva.

The cure for high prices ... is high prices.

In some countries the market that was used to American chocolates switched to Polish ones and now Russian ones. The Polish ones I tried were actually far better than American - high cocoa content and not pure sugar like the American products. I remember when Milka went from European to American ownership, overnight it seemed like that sugar content was hiked 200%. It was inedible.
