I presume 100% of SNAP recipients are Americans. So many P&R threads are Americans complaining about other Americans. State of residence, skin colour, left leaning, right leaning, political party, you are all Americans. You are a nation defined by division and acrimony right now. At some point, you'll have to collectively own your social problems and weak programs and fix them together. If not, you'll just continue to have problems and personal taxes and related ( e.g. health care premiums ) will have to go up to pay for the mess.

Actually many families receiving SNAP are illegal immigrants.
