Uh, what new tech development are you talking about? They removed the top of the old of the well that had the broken pipe. Then they bolted down a new top section which was mated to a series of valves. There was no new technology developed for this.

I think <a href="http://www.socialnews.biz/tag/BP">BP</a> will be tight lipped. I was reading that they already are trying to hire scientists and keep control of any scientific data about the spill.
