Widescreen vs Square Monitors

I think I like that idea. Next time I replace monitors, I'll get 24"s and rotate them... non-TN panels, though.

The old CRTs (4 of them) are gone-zo now. Replaced by Samsung 23" LCD mons. Project (my trading room v2.0) not complete yet. Will post pictures once done.

Well, you butt so or whatever your nick means.. (maybe tiny butt in Japanese)?

If you need a tall skinny monitor to read email then fine. I thought this was a trader site, not an email reading site. Good advice for those like you who need a big tall skinny monitor to read email though! LOL

Up to 20.1" there seems to be reasobnable choice in square 1600x1200 monitors, but once you reach 21.3" it seems to be just NEC still in current production. If anyone knows different please say so.

Above 21" they all seem to be widescreen, even high definition such as NEC's and Samsung244T

A word of advice, only buy a monitor that is still in production as for the period of warranty there is a better chance of receiving what you already have as a replacement. e.g. it is out of production but you can still find a brand new old stock Samsung 214T 21.3", however, if it fails they will replace it with a current model widescreen.

Replacing a 21" UXGA with a widescreen really WOULD suck.

I had a Planar 20", UXGA, S-IPS, panel replaced under warranty with a new version.... except it has a TN panel.... THAT sucks, too!! It was such a disappointment, I'm storing it to be used as backup and replaced with another S-IPS panel, HP LP2065.
