A grid failure, caused by a natural disaster or solar storm. Natural disaster fallout. A dollar collapse. Regional war that interrupts global trade/energy shipping. What is more likely than the nuclear EMP terror bio anthrax attack crazo scenarios is that USA economy undergoes the Japan experience with it's 3rd decade of recession, with real wages falling, lower purchasing power and an overall standard of living.
