Why You Should Never Use Google Authenticator Again: Reasons why U2F is better than TOTP

Thread title sounds like hyperbole. There are a million other things we can do to better secure our online accounts and presence. Google Authenticator is definitely not the weak link at all.

I recently notice a lot of attacks on the internet against Google. More than ever before, especially safety concerns are voiced and Google Chrome attacks.

They make a persuasive case, unfortunately, lots of online services and companies dont accept U2F (or FIDO2) but rather force you to use Google Authenticator. Could this be a case of the worse technology is winning because of first mover advantage?

Google Authenticator falls short when it comes to cloud sync options. With Google, if you lose your phone you lose your access. Get a new phone and prepare to manually transfer your accounts, all of them, one at a time. This scenario alone seems to be the biggest reason people switch from Google Authenticator to Authy.
