Why would anyone want ICE gone?

Agree except with ....
"... ICE is now a far bigger threat to America than undocumented immigrants. It's an experiment of, and prelude to, implementing Stalinist persecutions under the color of federal law...I support immediate abolishment of ICE..."

Behind ICE is a group of private prison operators that are charging the federal government (hence taxpayers) $800-$1200 per head per day for housing undocumented immigrants, including those who have lived in the US for a couple of decades with no criminal records.

There is now a thriving prison / security industrial complex in the US that makes an immensely profitable business out of incarcerating people, at the outrageous expense of taxpayers. I'm not aware of any other country in the world that's remotely comparable to the US in this regard.

Smells of "balloon juice".

You claim... ICE rounds up undocumenteds who have been in the US for 20 years... locks them up, then charges $1,000/day ($365K/year) to imprison them?

That sounds too stupid for even Lefties to embrace... but maybe I'm missing something(??)

Whether it's ICE or other... we need "hard as nails immigration and border enforcement".

So, should we assume then that -since cost and family separation- is an issue for you that you support Trump's plan- already in progress- to convert military facilities near the border to receive and detain border crossers? Or do you have another set of issues right behind that to default to once the cost and separation issues are resolved?

I think we know the answer.

Way to present a false choice, Captain Binary. There are plenty of other options. For example, we can take your guns, put you in a cage then ship you to Mexico.

Well, I can agree that your ilk has a wider range of options because you don't believe you are constrained by the Constitution.

But just to give you a little insight into how it works, I am a natural born American citizen. You cannot deport me for anything at any time. Not the same for an illegal immigrant. See how it works? Didn't think so.

I didn’t say anything about deporting you. More like ship you down there and see how far you get with your smart mouth.

Why? Stop government theft / misuse / abuse of taxpayer funds under false pretenses. Stop government's erosion of the United States Constitution, as well as flagrant and frequent abuse of power against the people.

ICE is now a far bigger threat to America than undocumented immigrants. It's an experiment of, and prelude to, implementing Stalinist persecutions under the color of federal law.

Even if one doesn't know anything about the type of people who have actually been running this country, one can still see the unmistakable pattern of systematic, step-wise destruction of Constitutional protections of liberty and freedom in America.

I support immediate abolishment of ICE.

PS. I'm in favor of instituting criminal investigations and charges against Hillary Clinton (along with a couple of former US presidents) as well as impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump, even though I know that neither is going to happen. The monkey show in Washington DC will go on.
