Good questions. An here is another. Whats wrong with banning sale of assault riffles and bump stock modification? Not needed for recreational shooting or hunting (in fact its unsportsmanlike to hunt with an assault riffle) AND assault riffles are not needed for self defense. (Unless you are trying to defend yourself against a platoon.)2 Serious Questions:
1) Why would you oppose 21 being the minimum age to buy guns?
2) What is wrong with back ground check similar to NYC? (submit application, if all checks out you go in front of officer for interview and then get you permit)
My opinion is to allow these 2 and in return get concealed carry across all 50 states (I know it is just a dream, but a good one to have).
What is wrong with this compromise?
It's like you just can't stop embarrassing yourself. The important thing is that you're excelling at something.![]()

It's actually not valid. What is at issue is probability. You want to reduce the probability of a bunch of people being mowed down by a hail of bullets. You can't reach zero probability but you can easily reduce the probability significantly without stepping on anyone's second amendment rights. All of those arguments based on anecdote are meaningless. The only thing that matters is probability of being killed by a criminal with a gun. Have you increased it or have you decreased it? And you have the constraint of the Second Amendment that must be accommodated. This is not rocket science. The other developed countries have been able to figure it out. I'm sure Americans are smart enough to do it too. But let's be honest, the average trader may not be smart enough! No, but it's a valid point to mention that the solutions being presented wouldn't have prevented the situations that caused people to want the solutions in the first place.
I'm not arguing with any of that, and I agree with your final statement.
There has never been a liberal (or conservative for that matter) that can show how any gun control law stops a crazy person from getting a gun. I've said it a thousand times - there are too many guns on the street - both legal and illegal. Instead the response that comes from them is "so we should just make more"? Yes, because not making more limits the people who are using these guns to defend themselves and have a constitutional right to do so. Not making more guns does nothing to the bad guys who already possess the weapons illegally. Making possession illegal doesn't stop the bad guys who are already breaking the law. All you do is take law abiding citizens and make them criminals with a stroke of a pen.
Deep down, gun control advocates know this, but they're not about to stop their shrieking based on inconveniences like facts.
