You want a silver bullet solution that solves everything otherwise it's just a waste of time, right? Congratulations on your age-defying argument of a 10-year-old.
No law is going to legislate evil away.
No, but it's a valid point to mention that the solutions being presented wouldn't have prevented the situations that caused people to want the solutions in the first place.
A multi-pronged approach would address a multi-faceted problem. Each component on its own may not solve all problems, but they might make a meaningful inroad in combination.
How do you make it impossible for a determined whack-job to get a gun illegally?? And even if there was a way to make it impossible for someone to get their hands on a gun, what do we do about protecting ourselves against "bad-guy government"? That's a big point. Our own Left-leaning government is getting to be more "bad-guy" every day.
I'm still in the camp that the best defense against a bad guy with a gun is good guys with guns.

I'm not arguing with any of that, and I agree with your final statement.
There has never been a liberal (or conservative for that matter) that can show how any gun control law stops a crazy person from getting a gun. I've said it a thousand times - there are too many guns on the street - both legal and illegal. Instead the response that comes from them is "so we should just make more"? Yes, because not making more limits the people who are using these guns to defend themselves and have a constitutional right to do so. Not making more guns does nothing to the bad guys who already possess the weapons illegally. Making possession illegal doesn't stop the bad guys who are already breaking the law. All you do is take law abiding citizens and make them criminals with a stroke of a pen.
Deep down, gun control advocates know this, but they're not about to stop their shrieking based on inconveniences like facts.
Fine, so let's not dismiss individual prongs that may contribute to a comprehensive solution.
Again, as long as they provide a workable solution, I am all for it.
