Why trading communities have a low respect for scalpers?

Can someone give an example of a trade by a true scalper? using something very liquid like the ES mini.

To be honest i still dont understand how to execute a true scalper trade and i am sure am not the only one here.

Many people loop different very short term strategies with tight stop/limit as scalping, but i dont think they are really scalping.

thanks

ps i was really confused about the posts on this thread until i realized dayXXXX was on my ignore list, then it all made sense :)

So far today is setting you behind schedule a bit huh big boy.

We are doing pretty good this month. First 2 months losses being reduced slowly. Need few weeks of up days and we should be at par.

... and that's why trading communities have a very high respect for scalpers ... just another asinine ET thread.

True scalping is not what most "scalpers" practise. True scalping is exploiting the bid-offer spread - so by definition you can't scalp the ES or NQ which almost always has a 1 tick spread. Daytrading the ES is just that - daytrading, not scalping.

I'm not sure why people would look down on scalpers. First of all, it provides a valuable service - lowering the bid-offer spread paid by long-term traders and investors. If I am a position trader, I would much rather have several scalpers active in my stock or future that I wanna trade, that way I get a tighter spread and thus lower transactions costs. If you are patient, you can often see when a scalper is long or short, then offer him an exit a few ticks below the ask or above the bid, he'll take it most times.

Scalping is also extremely low risk (over the long-term) when done properly. It's rare to have a losing month as a scalper. You can also earn extremely high returns on capital until you start running into size constraints. Scalping is the best way to turn $25k into $250k+, no question.

Can you post something how scalpers an turn 25K to 250 K and how long? I am in awe of this method of trading, will benefit scores of people on this forum.

I know several daytraders who make around 600k (not in NY) a year for prop. firms who don't have to deal with all the corporate BS. They aren't flipping a coin, they're consistent and have an edge (sharpe ratios above 4). If you feel inferior to some Wall St. trader with that sort of lifestyle then you have some personal problems that need immediate attention. Likewise, if you're a plumber making have mill. a year and you love your job, who cares what people think. Be happy that some people look down on you because of a stupid job title-- it's an easy friend filter.

I've been working on swing trading fx using andrews pitch forks, but in the weeks that ive been doing that and getting pretty much no where (still learning though), I've had more winning trades, and more steady profits scalping

Day traders are the lowest profession on Wall street.

Can you imagine being at a party and someone asks you" What do you do for living? And you say " I am a day trader, I scalp for a living ".

Not only that its very very risky way to make a living. SEC has strict rules for day trading since people with small capital start gambling and eventually lose it all. Read SEC website they dont hold day trading in high esteem either. Most day traders lose their accounts in first 6 months...

your a total and complete retard,........... at a party...........oh jeez
you dont have a clue whats its about I only wish my kids could face yours in any competition :D cause we are there for them and you are not  say what you want we all know its true
