Anecdotally true. Just saw a couple of CS major/MBAs lose out on the green card lottery system. Excellent work experience and skills...just tossed out. We need a point system similar to Canada. Badly.

If they can't figure out that all they need to do is fly to Mexico and walk across the border, then they probably aren't really that smart. And in terms of being "kicked out", you need to commit a violent felony (or three) to be physically deported. We have over 10M here that have been "asked to leave". If you have a highly skilled worker who's status ran out, just get them an ITIN and ignore it like everyone else does.

Because everyone is working from home, they don't even need to come to the US. Imagine a bunch of Indian and/or Chinese quants working for a dollar per hour for them in their own office in Asia.

You mean through E-Verify? Not using that for new hires is supposed to come with fines and penalties, but the gov't stopped enforcing that years ago. Many of these 10M+ are working for companies out there.
