I remember back in the 90s' when the new $100 dollar bill (enhanced security - thread sandwiched thru the middle and oversized offset portrait of old Benny F) people though they were fake. Guess they needed to have OrangeMan on them to not be "fake".
Anyway younger generations are accepting of new things, especially new digital things. Cryptos are not going anywhere. Of course it doesn't mean you personally have to accept them.
Also you are wrong about no recourse on bitcoin in particular. Google Silk Road for instance. There are many others (hackers, etc) that the long arm of the U.S. Gubmint caught.
Did anyone get their money back?
No idea. Same as most Ponzi's I suppose.
BTW same as most corporate bankruptcies. Some do, some don't.

Well that's the next best thing to being in jail. Point is there was some recourse and the investors did get some of their money back.
