Why some stocks have no volume first couple minutes of open?

For example, on Friday F and XOM barely any volume the first minute

I see it happen often.

What is the reason behind it?

lol. first minute of what? those are nyse listed. they start trading when the specialist says so after he is ready fronting all the at open orders.

There were not many buyers or sellers at that time.
