Quote from Scataphagos:
Quote from Hoofhearted:
"Why should I suffer for making all the right decisions, and everyone else benefit for making all the wrong decisions?"
This is a quote from memory, that the chairman of Westgate said to his employees publicly, when he threatened to absolve their positions, and take his fortune to an island beach, if Obama gets re-elected.
[/QUOTE
Kudos for him. It's his property!
Dear Scataphagos,
While this may be true, it also belonged to the Seminole or some other tribe before it was taken away them and granted to his grandparents.
And YES... SOCIALISTS ROB PROPERTY FROM ONE CITIZEN TO GIVE TO ANOTHER IN EXCHANGE FOR THEIR VOTE AND CONTROL OVER THIER LIVES!
As an American citizen, you should HATE that.
Can you disclose one society worth living in that doesnât do THAT? Iâm all ears.
What the Leftists and parasites really want is for success to be "granted". That's what's really fair... "social justice", isn't it?
This maybe true for some leftists, but most of us are probably in the middle between the extreme right and left. I wonder, Where are you on the spectrum?
When you refers to others as parasites, who are you really talking about? The ones who donât conquer and divide, and who actually learn to share? Or the ones who may have disabilities to the extent that you may not be able to empathize? The only people I can think of that might fit this parasitic description are the ones who latch their suckers onto an easy money train, and may not work as hard as many others who bust their humps for minimum wage. This describes many on both the left and the right extremes.
Quote from Rationalize:
The idea of opportunity being "granted" is almost an oxymoron.
Dear Rationalize,
I agree 100%. But some give and others take, so we have to distinguish between the actions.
Quote from logic_man:
If he doesn't control his own destiny, who does? Is control over it allocated to every other person on the planet on a proportional basis, so that each of us has 1/7,000,000,000th of it?
Dear logic_man
Control is divided- Some has been taken by parents, or God if you believe in such. Some is granted to the individual, while some will always be taken by the society of the individual. Probably more like thirds, rather than 7 billionths.
If groups of people want to get together and give up their control over their destinies, they are free to do so. I believe such groups are called cults or communes. No one is stopping anyone from joining one. But, if you look at their histories, you will see that they tend not to last long. Why do you think that is? It's because they are incapable of dealing with change.
I hate to break this to you, but you were born into and you are currently living in a commune/cult. Some call it a democracy, others a republic, while others have tried to call it a federation, and union. âlove it or leave itâ I believe is how the saying goes about this here commune.
The greatest revolution in human thinking of all time is the "idea" of the individual. For hundreds of thousands of years, homo sapiens existed, but this idea did not. During those hundreds of thousands of years, there was less progress than there has been in the last 300 years since the emergence of this idea with Descartes.
Are you really trying to tell us that you are sharp on the history of the past 300 thousand years of human social psychology? Do you realize you may actually have an audience that wants to hear what you have to say?
Enjoy your life as an ant, just don't try to drag me down to the same level.
I didnât mean to bring you down to such a lowly conversation. My apologies sire.
On a side note, I do find it interesting how many on here are terrified that the âantsâ are taking over.
Some reading this forum may even extinguish us "ants" if allowed, but the fear of execution makes them threaten to just pick up and move to some Utopian country out in the ocean.
Quote from oldtime:
And let us business men post here
Thatâs just what I am doing. It is a free commune and you should be able to speak your point of view.
Quote from logic_man:
I don't have the exact words in front of me, but someone said shortly after Obama was elected "The republic can survive an Obama, but it will have a harder time surviving the kind of citizens who support Obama".
I've said it before and I'll say it again, we need to split off from these people into a separate nation. They are arrogant enough to think their ideas would work if actually fully-implemented, so we need to pitch it to them as giving them a chance to prove that theory without interference. They're so stupid, they just might buy it. They can keep Obama as President for life, for all I care.
I believe when the republican party called themselves the Federation, they had many of the same ideals that you hold onto. Youâll probably just have to be content with moving to some Utopian island out in the ocean with whatâs his name from Westgate tech.
Quote from sle:
You can't make a blanket statement that all of our success is driven by luck. Similarly, you can't claim that all of it is due to hard work and dedication. The reality is that success is a hybrid result of work and luck, with work being the main driver that gets you 99% of the way (one can make it to proverbial 1% on hard work alone) and sheer luck the rest of the way.
I hate paying taxes because a bigger portion of that money goes to things that have little to do with society and most have to do with special interests (military, farm subsidies, war on drugs - you name it). As a New York City resident and a private entrepreneur, my marginal tax rate is bordering on 50% already and will certainly move over that mark once the tax increases come though and more deductions will be phased out (e.g. if i can't deduct state taxes). So certainly, at some point I can and might make a decision to take my money and move to Hong Kong or Singapore where I'd be taxed at the rate that is a fraction of the US.
Dear sle,

Dear Braksir,
