Why scalping beats any other trading style

Dear boy you have completely missed the point of quick turn trading.
 
secxces, I don't have a clue what he is up to. I do know who taught him most of what he knows and he has put this into the system along with one other's input. In 20 years there are only 2 other traders that I have met who can scalp as well as I do and one of them trained this programmer how to trade. He's been calling live trades to some friends and I for several months while he puts the final polish on the system. There will be 2 versions - an autotrade and a manual. A lot of the time he gets same as or close to my reversal points and it really takes the day for me to outperform this thing.

I think a free trial for ET'ers s the way to go. :) He could get a look at how his system performs using real-life conditions and real live traders. (Because don't forget there are always compliance issues, even for doctors writing prescriptions.) Talk him into it, would'ja?

Ah, I see. Yeah, In my free time I have read a very large amount of your posts. I see you have traded for sometime. I rather am a novice. 2.5 years to date. FX Futures, Spot, and Options. But I didnt really jump into the scalping arena till about 6 months ago. Things have flowed very well since then. Typically, I usually look for average innacurate, volatile, or specific puulback, dips, or extreme high/lows. Common reversion technique so to speak. You said you havent met many traders that are good scalpers, other then yourself. In what way do you seperate yourself from the norm? I mean, like I mean no sarcasim, I actually beleive you rather..lol. Im just saying like what type of technique have you found most profitable? Just trying to pick some brains..lol..

secxces, I gave a lot away in the Interesting Charts thread and I alluded to some indicators that are known to lag the market but I use as lead indicators, for eg moving averages. I used to be a martial artist and I remember my sensi saying the black belt is just the basic level - now take what you know and create the art.

My charts have volume added to the candle, buying volume above the candle and selling below so the whole length of the candle plus volume talks. I can see smart money as it happens. I don't use time, only range to take the jellywobbles out of the indicators. Try a 3 Range and a 6R and a 10R on your Fx and look for fluid moves - all one colour and then the change in emotion.

I you've read my posts you'll know I use a top down approach from the daily to 3 range. I use everything from the moon to a Gann Box with a dash of my own art. Take what you have as a starting point - everything works!

Glad to help.
Scalping is a much misunderstood technique and is usually applied to quick turn trading which is the next frame out.

Much has been written about scalping on ET and you should search for it as the info is very well written.

Basically scalping is a taking point here and a point there (the spread), whereas quick turn trading is chasing the short legs of 4-10 points and the trick being to close out without taking a loss.
If you enter on a short TF chart and then open the frame out, you are permitting wiggle room in order to capture bigger point moves.
Thus you are exposed to larger gains and their attending larger stops.

This is a quite different style of trading to either scalping or quick turn.
 
Oh bollocks fearless. That's like believing I'm tall dark and handsome and then discovering I'm bald fat and ugly. Can I still call myself a scalper if I quick turn trade and then move into a even bigger timeframe? I get the point but I must have had my head buried in these charts for too long - never heard of the term. Thanks a lot - and the weekend's coming too. I'm going to have to reinvent what I tell people I do.
