If Republicans are against socialized healthcare, why not abolish Medicare?

Medicare is a big chunk of deficit as well. Cutting Medicare out and letting Seniors find healthcare in the private market.


Medicare is a big part of our deficit.

Cutting it means less taxes.

the republicans would be hanged by the same old geezers that are protesting government healthcare if they ended medicare.
 
There is a little difference b/w abolishing a benefit that's been law for 45yrs that everyone looks forward too and expects than new law & benefit that doesn't exist yet.

Might have smthg to do with that :)
