I'm not sure if you're mocking me or not. Attacking my lack of ability to describe my thoughts thoroughly is stupid. In any case. I guess I was wrong to say that there was 5m exactly. I just knew there was plenty of size to lean on. I assumed it was 5m or so. Probably more as you see that those bidders stepped up fast.
I do trade drunk about 1/3 of the time. I feel that I have a better feel for things honestly when I'm drunk. The booze really eliminates a lot of the noise. You'd be surprised, but try it. At first I just lost all the time when drunk. Now I seem to have some of my biggest days when I'm hung over. Trading is really easy and mindless. People think way too much into it most of the time. If you're drunk, your gut does the thinking for you. Let your brain take some time off. There are things that are for longer term investing that the brain does much better. But your gut will see the next point much better than most brains.
I don't know what you mean by lets see. I assume that you mean that I won't be able to cut it and will eventually burn out or something. I've been at this now for a while. This is the beginning of my 3rd full year and my 5th partial year. I made 130% in 2000 and 218% in 2001. I'm up about 40% now for this year I think. Though my trading account is up over 140%. It's my long term stuff that is holding me down so far. (Those thv just aren't getting jiggy yet. But I continue to buy. ) At this pace, I assume that I'm on track for another 200%+ year which is probably better than almost anyone else on this board will do (excluding maybe 20 or so true pros.)(and catalite from the ET room of course, but that's cause he's not fully human). If my THV starts to move, which I think it will, my 77k shares will really boost my returns quite well. Lets just say that the number say I'll do just fine. But we'll see....
prae,
If you turn into a seven figure trader, and you don't self-destruct, they will write a book about you. "Harry The Hat," a famous futures trader at the MERC, was a carbon copy of you, except he made ungodly amounts of money. On more than one occassion on the way to work at the MERC, I saw his limo (they took his drivers license away) open the rear window and out came several bottles of wine. Eventually, he abused himself too much. (I don't know if there was a "happy" ending or not.)
I am not mocking you - but I have to agree with faster, you are definitely the only trader I know (other than Harry) that can trade drunk, and on three hours of sleep, and trade tens of thousands of shares!!
You must either be very young to be able to abuse yourself like that, or the effects of sleeplessness and alcohol may be negligible to your "body chemistry" - I have seen the "flip-side" of you - my Bridge partner drinks several cups of coffee before going to bed, and then has a hard time getting out of bed.
I so agree with you when you say trading is easy. The only thing that I am not surprised about is that you say you can trade better when you are drunk. _BUT_, IMHO, and I say it again, _IMHO_, you would be "better" off figuring out how to achieve the same calmness, or state of mind to be more general, without the alchohol.
