Why not keep the markets open 20 hours a day?

If you don't mind your trading fees jacked up 10 or 20X, I'm sure the exchanges would be ok with it.

But if they did that the majority of players would then be complaining the fees are too high.

Casinos are open 24/7 because the dumb customers are there for entertainment and to SPEND money, not earn it.

Trade the asiatic markets (with IB for example)... Plenty of action there on stocks and futures...

You can trade ES (US time zone), ESTX50 (EUR time zone) and N225 (Asian time zone) pretty much 24h a day. All are very liquid during their RTH, you can easily trade 100s of contracts each.
