Indeed. Except I cannot think of why they are not already empowered to do that under the 2nd amendment if they are doing open carry.
So effort would be more in the direction of enforcing constitution rights rather than begging lefties for new laws. New laws are more likely to be problems than helpful. Could be some areas that need to be tidied up legally/legislatively but I would approach with caution.
Sadly the local and state laws in Minneapolis effectively ban self-defense of your business and home plus many restrictions on firearms. They arrested the one business owner who shot the violent looter in Minneapolis because there is no castle law for defending your business there - you are required to retreat & allow them to loot your home or business.
I hear ya. And in many instances you cannot and should not use lethal force but that does not necessarily negate the need for more local, organized militia. The castle doctrine does not require you to retreat if a person/s are being actively assaulted or life-threatening actions are in motion such as the lethal beating of others. And there is plenty of that going on and more to come. For example, if an armed militia came upon a group of "protesters" killing that black retired police captain they would have been justified in dispatching them forthwith.
In any case, the purpose of being organized is to be organized, to find out exactly what your rights are in your area and who can help you if you need help. In texas, you can even shoot a fleeing felon who has committed a property crime against someone else's property. Not saying whether that is right or wrong. Just sayin, time for people to organize to know how to survive as business owner. Maybe in Minnesota bear spray is looking good to some people. I don't know. Maybe the 85 year old Korean couple running the neighborhood store just wants to know who can come and be with them if things get rough. Lots of looters will not loot a place where there ten guys standing outside looking protective. As I said, the point is to be organized- maybe there is lots that can be done, maybe nothing. Figuring it out in advance rather than while in progress is always better.
Needs to be some legal work done to to clarify whether insurance companies are required to cover or not or whether they can used the "armed insurrection" clause to welch out. Part of being organized would be to help business owners there too, and maybe some law changes. This is not your grandfather's country anymore. The decent people need to figure out how to organize and protect themselves against the lefty mobs and the collapse of society.

I think this would definitely help. But it won't be a solution the left will accept because it isn't enough.
Tie a bell to a cops dick and show him video of a pretty girl being beaten, the ones that get engorged, fire them.
There will be a fair number. I have worked with guys for who violence without repercussion was the silver lining. Part of the reason left anti poaching ranger work was just a few but too many local cops needed to be sent down for the good of everyone.

Once they do away with the police, who is going to arrest them?
Once you descend into the Latin American Socialist Workers Paradise that the lefties are takings us toward each day, arrests are not really the way that matters are handled. Both sides settle matters by "disappearing" people. And motorcycle gang hit squads like Maduro has roaming the cities bringing justice to those areas.
