I would imagine the HFT trading above is beyond any persons reach on this site - unless someone wants to prove otherwise?

The above fact shows what can and did happen on Jan14 2008.

What is happening on a daily basis with all the Algo traders out there?

I do not think they have gone away - maybe they are just running different programs at the moment and the likes of above will not kick in until the relevant criteria is in place to trigger the launch of such programs as above!

So, you say, how does that affect me as a small retail trader?

Simple, if the Big Boys are trading every day, would it not be wise to learn a bit about how they trade and what type of programs they use - after all, they have a little bit more money than nearly all of us put together:mad:
