Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

Cool how those yahoo charts update everyday.

T786 said: The fact that the secret is obvious suggests it is simple. but when looking more at this secret it can be seen that certain things were originally over looked or simplified or missed or not mentioned for obvious reasons years back.

I've racked my brain for ages but am no closer. I originally thought nsyestocks was talking about market structure, but he/she dismissed that early in the piece. There is lots of talk of "its" and "thems" and "birds" etc. If your dumb like me its confusing. So no, I have no idea of what you speak. Lucky I'm persistant.

Anyways,

Quote from nysestocks:

I am rapidly losing interest in this site, so I am not going to post for a while unless some serious questions are asked to raise the bar a bit!

This thread is not for beginners, who must go thru the discovery process, even though they don't realize it until it is too late!

I will leave you with the following for consideration.

1) Daytraders have little or no effect on stock market liquidity.

2) MM's hedge their bets.

3) Big Money will not stay in the same place for too long a time.

4) When you think you should be buying you really should be selling.

5) When you think you should be selling you really should be buying.

I use 4 & 5 extensively, 1 & 3 I've always intuitively known. However, need to think about both 2 & 3 and how they interact with each other.

Mr T.O. was there discussion about a plan?

THE PLAN

1. GATHER RELEVANT DATA FOR PROCESSING

if we are to gather relevant data, what must we do?

two words in a tub..the first will be rub

Rub Clean? Wipe Clean.. Have we had any progress from page 225?

Mr T.O. on page 216 you say there are obvious things in the charts you post. My obvious list:
two charts,
one line,
one bar,
same stock,
intraday view on one,
daily on another,
line/bar moves up and back, mostly,
sometimes appears to elongate move in one direction,
sometimes line/bar does not come back,
intraday seems to move at open close area,
daily just moves,
charts have begining and end, hi/lo, read left to right,
grey background,
assume volume at the bottom,
volume go's up and down,
more volume someday, less at other times,

Think some more.. I'm dumb, nay, stupid, lucky I'm persistant.
To dumb to rhyme the time I've spent I'll never get back.

Panic over, do the eyes have it? Tomorrow should be interesting.

Seemed to be a bit of a rally today.

I've been looking for a source of real time NYSE Tick index but it doesn't seem to be readily available. Checked Worden TC2000, the paid for alternative version of FreeStockCharts and $TICK is not real time but is delayed 15 mins, which seems useless to me. ProRealTime have an indicator called Advance Decline Net difference with a 5min interval but I'm not inclined to pay for that. So in the absence of real time $TICK I just rely on the S&P500 index from my broker which is real time and is also available from FreeStockCharts.

Well the previous 2 days were interesting, abnormal and large daily ranges, falls mostly, the investors are reeling but daytraders should not be at all bothered.

AA+ is a slap in ther face for some of the American policy makers :D

GR crashed as most other stocks did too. Under these conditions I'm not sure if previous levels have any significance, and the usual stock scans I do seem pointless. Maybe the best approach is to wipe the slate clean and just watch were prices go for a few favourite stocks and ignore previous levels until normality resumes.

It seems a disadvantage in not having access to a real time data for the NYSE TICK index. I think IB Brokers supply it but rather than open an account with them I decided to try ProRealTime for 3 months, subscribing to NYSE equities and indices, S&P500 index and make use of their Advance Decline Net difference index without any smoothing. I resent having to pay for a data feed but my present broker CMC Markets only supply the usual TA indicators.

Also , from reading this thread Is the obvious just BTFD and hold until you see a profit. Don't over leverage. Is this the theme or am I missing something?

A good retreat is better than a bad stand...

Praise the ripe field not the green corn !

bareback is lots of fun,
riding a horse in the sun,
silly question to ask,
of course it's without saddle.

You can ask a question in a rhyme?
If you haven't noticed nysetrader threads,
are mandatory rhyme.
It's hard.

I believe Waren knows well about this, but he only do BLASH. During the late 2008 he started to accumulate US stocks and he annouced his action to the public.

Its a wonderful thing that you can see the obvious, but your ego is likely to trip you later.

Quote from nysestocks:

NO - you must BLASH and SHABL to make money, but the obvious is what enables you to do this with very low risk, and with a potential profit many times the initial amount risked!

This is the essence of professional gambling - aka, trading!

BTW, not even Waren Buffet is aware of the obvious, but that should be obvious to everyone by now!

let others do..what not like you
for matter not..what they have got
the only truth..to find in youth
is knowing all..is really small

old soc did say..for many a day
that all he knew..was naught so true
for knowing naught..gives one much thought
and that you see..what make it be

to win at all..one must be small
at first to see..if right will be
and if not right..not let the fright
make small be big..the branch from twig

the time will show..when small must grow
for wins must be..the branch you see
to hear the chime..one must know time
for time you see..equals moneeeeey

and now for e..go look and see
for when you know..it matter no
the weak you see..will look to be
like all the rest..and not the best

TO will say..just for today
that all can be..a winner see
but first of all..be not so tall
and know that you..know more than two

some will see..what needs to be
others wait..and catch the bait
but one thing sure..as snow is pure
if sit on arse..then all a farse

a lazy chap..will easy nap
miss the chime..and lose the dime
but he who sweat..will never fret
and come to see..time equals money:D
