Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

So, the students are puzzled... :)

One common theme throughout this thread, and one I agree with, is that you absolutely have to think for yourself and not trust what anyone else says unless you can verify it for yourself. This is particularly true about authority figures - including the various oracles on this thread.

Everyone is trying to find someone who can guide them or give them some certainty in this world of uncertainty, but at the end of the day we're alone in this game.

As for the trade currently in play - not sure what to make out of that, but I do believe @M4-1 said it was to prove a point. And one which I believe was clear to me, although I'm not sure I can agree with it.

One could argue that the markets are due for a pullback from here, but going into a long weekend in July I think it's a tad too early. But since the risk in $$$ terms is small, I'm sure it will turn out okay... :)

it might take some time..but so what :)

I know, it's just me, but I can not understand why people are so reluctant to take small losses (and possibly get on the right side) when things don't move as initially expected.

On the bright side, it's only 1:30pm est: preceding a 3 day weekend!

Happy 4th!!

I don't think that is what he is trying to prove.

@baron193 Would you have taken the same trade...?
Not necessarily in the same way, but do you believe that the ES is bound for a drop next week?
I have taken plenty of trades that i let run into loss and have "rescued", sometimes over few days but not at perceived tops or bottoms...and the ones i eventually lost on were only because i ran out of patience.I don't know what the ES will do.

It's not just you...

I prefer to add to a winner instead, i.e., adding more units as price moves in my favour. But I can average in as well if I have an expectation of price bottoming out or topping out within a zone of say 5-15 points on ES and I'm a tad too early on my first entry (which always is on smaller size).
