That's my take on the box exactly. Paintings, can be just be colored boxes (like rothko) unless you understand the context and structure behind them. Same with a particular set up. The only way you get to know is by doing. If you flick through the Barry Rudd book you can kind of see boxes as well. Boxes seem to be good risk management tools. TE seemed to use them on higher time frames. Also when you think you should close out then maybe that's when you should also reverse.
They are definitely not talking about Darvas. In fact I would wager that TFF would consider him another peddler of tricks.

]I understand the box. How do you determine how big to make your box (i.e. how do you know how close to the bottom or top price gets before engaging head on with the train coming at you?) Or do you monitor price and decide to enter based on if it's slowing down/reversing? Sometimes it's so quick you can't really monitor it slowing down, it just goes in and out.
My take is, TO was watching the transaction level speed up with size. Refer to the discussion about bid/offers in this thread.
I can see the smaller the box the smaller the risk and the more leverage can be used if the trade goes right, but you might also miss more opportunities if it doesn't get close enough
My take is, time gives you all the leverage you need through compounding. MTF's are important.
I'm hesitant about reversing if it comes out the other side of the box because I don't yet have a good plan about stopping a loss if the reverse backfires and comes back yet again (double-reverse?)
Refer to the trades TO posted. I have no answers to this problem.

It's an example of what I have not seen written anywhere else. I am taking the liberty of replying to your request to xtemz.
If you had read the thread you may have understood the significance of montaigne and the message contained therein.

I read this thread from basically the beginning, it has been 4 years or so. Still have no clue what you meant. If you want to post in riddles, so be it, but is not constructive.
