Why is IB's time 5 seconds behind the official time?

Quote from trader_david:

comrade, 5seconds is a pretty long time. if news breakouts, the market may take only 1 seconds to roof or one second to the ground.

another disadvantage is obvious: for example, five seconds ago, the market was quted like that: ask 4.8 bid 4.78, since you are behind 5 seconds, you think this is the current market, and you want to buy it, you entered 4.8, but oddly the market did not take it, then the qoute freshed to ask 4.85 bid 4.83, then you changed your bid to 4.83, gosh, still did not get filled since you are behind 5 seconds, actually the market is at ask 4.95 bid 4.93, ... so how can you buy the market at fair price? you end up chase the market until some point the market is started to reverse, after your chase the market to ask 5.09 bid 5.07, the market is actually at ask 4.97 bid 5.0, and you entered buy order at 5.07, oddly you get filled at 5.01! you may think you get good fill, oops, the market is heading ask 4.85 bid 4.83.... what a losing game!

that is why they want 5 seconds delay for you!

Let's be clear. the data is NOT repeat NOT 5 seconds behind. It is timely and does especially well during active periods. the person is complaining that they believe the time displayed on the TWS is 5 seconds off. I've personally tested on 2 servers against the link I posted and it matches perfectly.

Are you dumb or dumber??? Geezuz.

By the way, it's "bid-ask", not "ask-bid". LOL.

I guess my word isn't good enough....

Just tell all the severely time challenged complainers to sync their computer clock with an atomic clock every day before they open TWS.

As def says, TWS time and data is not lagging. I can compare TWS data to that of Reuters, eSignal, and numerous local (Japan)
brokers. If there's any difference among them, you'll need an Olympic quality stopwatch to measure it.

Here's BookTrader and that from a local broker for Topix futures. As you can see all 10 bid/ask sizes are exactly the same. If TWS was lagging even 1 second, this would be impossible.

Proof enough?

5 seconds may not seem like a lot to the average joe, but thats a lot when trading. What happened to the 5 seconds and how does IB take advantage of the 5 second delay?

And with that question, moron is lowered to a whole new level.

They use it to spoof the market. You see the market as it was, place your orders, and IB, terrible terrible people that they are obviously fill you to their own advantage.

LMAO. What a moron.
