Why Iress???

Interested in any insights for anyone that has used IRESS currently or in the past. Wondering what the key differences are from other platforms like Laser or Sterling Pro. Offered a gig at a bank firm that uses this platform. Costs are high compared to laser or Sterling Pro and I am trying to figure out why.

I used Iress years ago when I first started trading. It's was fast and reliable but it didn't have many features. it's probably a lot more advanced now. I haven't used in quite a few years.
 
Like Runningbear used IRESS years ago, when Australian futures (SFE) first went electronic. Fairly rudimentary then. Times change.
Isn't it web browser based as opposed to stand alone?
 
Fairly rudimentary now too. Their legacy KTA platform has/had a lot of penetration in the Canadian market. Iress is stable, 'quick' and has some interesting features. 'Quick' - as in execution is quick when an order is fired - it is not the quickest for order entry. It is a little basic and inflexible for my liking.
