Politics on the national level and the commercial media are controlled by a number of very wealthy people who want to protect their business models and accumulated money and power. It is a tapestry of creative misdirection and deceit.
I think a lot of the reporters and editors at the NYT, etc. see this but are constrained. They drop clues to important issues but we have to read between the lines, like Russians said of Pravda in the waning days of the Soviet Union.
Most politicians have weaknesses that have led to hooks being sunk into them of one type or another. Hillary's weakness is money. She is being castigated by progressives because of her Wall Street ties, but it also wouldn't surprise me if Wall Street wrapped itself around her because it doesn't trust her as much as Bill. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
