Why highly intelligent people are NOT happy.

Quote from acerbits:

I believe IQ does change while a child grows up, if it takes years for their body to grow to adult proportion, shouldn't their brain function also?

Yes I agree with this

this is a fact IMO, but how is it a fact if its IMO

and yes it is rare to find people that are aware of others AND themselves at the same time

Amazed so many have replied to this post already. I suppose alot of you may be unhappy.

Unhappiness is all ATTITUDE! If you were really that intelligent you would know this already. Besides there are approximately 8 types of intelligence/genius. Some will make U more happy than others. All can be cured with a daily Attitude cheque.

Infuse your brain with positive thoughts & you will be happy.
Lots of ways to do this. Use your intelligence & read more GOOD books. Constant unhappiness is Bullshit, don't fool youself!

Cognitive Development: Neuroscience.

I believe the more intelligent you are, the more opportunities/careers are available. This can be confusing if you aren't already pursuing your true passion in life. The biggest problem then, is choosing the path in life that suits you. If you are unhappy, it means you did not choose the right path. If you are (comfortably) unhappy you might lack the balls or persistence to change your lifestyle. What would you be doing if there was no money in this world?

I have a high IQ. I don't know what it is, but its over 100 and thats all that matters.

I am a pretty happy guy most of the time. I guess I am intelligent enough to look for the funny stuff in life. Maybe thats why I am happy?

I have had a whole shitload of crappy things happen to me in my life. But I realized, or read, or was told, that if you look for something you always find it. I look for fun. And usually find it.

I guess thats not intelligence, but rather wisdom.

Do you look for happiness?

No, "IQ" stands for "intelligence quotient"; it's literally a quotient, mental age over chronological age.

In other words, IQ is already adjusted for age.

Welcome to existentialism and angst.
Sartre... Heidegger.... Nietzsche was found crying like a child and hugging a horse that was whipped in the plaza, when he had his breakdown.

Ever notice what happens when extremely intelligent people spend their lives in pursuit of truth? The name Icarus rings a bell (metaphorically).

Sadly, I have to admit, the more I come to understand what the great philosophers said and how they lived, the more your post makes sense.

Ignorance is bliss.

Quote from Supermax:

kids are happy because they have LOW IQ's , which proves the thread premise :/

have you ever seen a genius kid.. he/she ain't happy .. they are studious

Who says their not happy being studious!!! Who says they all have a low IQ?

Not exactly. You can have 105, that is over 100, but still just sligthly above average.

Otherwise I agree with the rest of your post...
