"In the money" does not by itself mean "In the profit".
Your points don't have anything to do with zero or negative sum game concept/reality.
Difficult to make money using JUST the option formula , at least if you think positively , you will find edges , outside the option formula.
The option formula is a negative sum tool , a skilled trader will know how to make money and get an edge out of it.
i found several edges like this chart , I have found 4 of these types of edges.I looked at it with glass half full mindset

None of this has to do with what is being discussed. Please read up on the subjects of zero sum and negative sum games and then re-post. In addition, please review the concepts of the straddle and "in the money" versus "in the profit" . Thank you for your time.--

People guilty of a certain action often accuse another of that very same action; it seems to calm their guilt and help them pretend that they’re innocent.
