I mean of course...what further proof do you need for physics then a stick picture drawing? All these "mechanical engineers' are wasting all their time on doing differential equations, and stress tests and all that other bologna when all they need is notepad.![]()
Funny that the picture was shown. I am a mechanical engineer, and when the twin towers collapsed I thought, "ok so who f***d up the design?"
Here is why I became instantly skeptical. Do some research on the empire state building. A plane has crashed into it, and its still standing. Granted it was not as big as these jets, but then again the empire state building was built many moons ago.
The problem with the twin towers was its design. Instead of having re-enforced pillars throughout the building (as is usually the case) they decided to put everything into a single backbone.
For example the following cached article:

It was done so that the "look" of the building would not be blocked by support pillars throughout any particular floor.
"Through all this, particular attention has been focused on the innovative floors that were central to the design of the twin towers. The floors were particularly critical in the trade center because in office buildings built before the 1960's, structural columns and beams were generally spread throughout - holding up the enormous weight and allowing the tower to resist the force from wind.
In the trade center, only the building's exterior and core had structural columns, and in between them were wide-open floors - relatively lightweight, decklike structures. Some engineers have wondered if insufficient fireproofing on the floor trusses led them to fail, undermining the structural integrity of the towers."

In other words hindsight is proving a wonderful experience... This all proves Taleb's thesis that humans can't stop failing since that is how we learn (or maybe not). Though this is very powerful in my eyes because it makes for rock solid market trading ideas!
