Why don't ECBOT gold and COMEX start at the same time?

I just noticed yesterday that ECBOT gold starts at 18:16 central time while Comex gold starts at 18:00 EST, that's 76 mins difference. I cannot think of any legitimate reasons for this. IMO, ECBOT is putting position holders at risk by opening an hour late.
 
Someone mentioned in another thread that after CBOT and CME merge they wont trade gold on CME/CBOT any more due a non complete cluase with NYMEX (CME currently host NYMEX on GLOBEX).

Anyone know if this is true?

Would be good if all the liquidity was in place.
