Why does the Pound trend best?

After reviewing the majors previous 12 month performance, it appears the pound trends best - smoother and more exacerbated movements compared to the other pairs.

Anyone care to speculate as to why?
 
Gambling is tax free in the UK. Maybe that encourages the locals to bet on their currency. The 40% tax rate is extortionate.
 
British tendency to form orderly ques i.e. buyers wait politely ( sipping tea and talking about the weather) until sellers have finished and vice versa.
