Why does TA not work (for you)?

Exactly. It's not magic and yes, maybe some people have stronger skills that naturally allow them to "get it" faster than others but regardless, it's dedication, persistence, the ability to learn from mistakes and the ability to put ego aside to trade well, no matter what ones "opinion" on what SHOULD happen next.

Surf, IMO, it's not "intuitive".
It's about one's experience with range and price targets.

I got a strong aversion to that word, which a lot of people use when discussing trading..."intuitive".
It seems to imply that one has to be a magician to be able to execute good trades.
It may seem that way, but what it really takes is years of study and dedication.----It's rough for most.

thanks, I knew we were close to agreeing on something.

No, there are many ways-- but only a few have a real edge. Just because a trade wins, does not mean it has an edge. Just like a gambler on a winning streak-- he has no edge, but wins and wins again. You can win by looking at charts or price action-- but there is no QUANTIFIABLE edge there.

There may even be traders who use TA and intuition to trade that are succesful-- but then again, its not quantifiable therefore not of interest to me. Make sense?

Small retail traders have a great edge compared to the institutions. They can get in & out very quickly because they don't have to worry about size.

I see where you are coming from... Intuitive seems mystical--- but I think it may be a developed skill for some. Basically your brain sees things before they happen by processing hidden clues that it learned from years of practice---I would say picking up on the price drivers intuitively without knowing it---- BUT it can't b programmed nor is it teachable or replicatible.

This is a common market myth. HFT trades in very small sizes.

Do you know of any publications discussing HFT?
I'd like to learn a little more about it.
