Hmm, where do I start.Quote from goldenarm:
It's easy for the Israelis to posture around like the big kid on the block when they enjoy unlimited US backing. If Obama decides to cut the umbilical cord, then we'll see how much of a bad ass Israel really is.
-First of all this big kid on the block occupies 0.2% of the middle east (if you include the West Bank and Gaza), their enemies own 99.8% of the land
-This big kid on the block is outnumbered 70 to 1 and that's against the arab world only, it does not take 1.5bln muslims into account most of whom are anti-Israel.
-Obama is not going to cut the cord, first of all he is staunchly pro-israel, second it would completely nullify the US influence and leverage in the region. This money allows the US to keep Israel on a leash, don't make any mistake about it.
-Last but not the least, while the $2.6bln aid is a pretty decent chunk of change, it's still a drop in the bucket for Israel which is a $200bln economy. Israel's most significant military victories took place long before the US aid started. (the aid was started by Jimmy Carter, no less as part of the Israeli/Egyptian Camp-David peace agreement).
Oh and for you personally goldenarm - ignorance is NOT a bliss.
