Why do you trade?

Hi traders!

A friend of mine has asked me to help her find online traders for her school thesis.
To be able to go further, she has a few questions. Would you guys be so kind to help her out?

1. How old are you?

2. How often do you trade on average?
Daily, weekly or yearly

3. How long have you been trading?

4. How were you introduced to online trading?

5. What is your motivation to trade? Could you explain your motivation?

Appreciate your time! Thank you!!
aw, I don't mean to be so hard on you. I have a daughter working on a degree so I know how it goes. But I hope you have a control group, especially for #5

#5. Why are you not motivated to trade? Could you explain your aversion?

ask that to all the respondents you normally hang out with, then you will have something to compare

for those of us that trade, trading is normal, how can you live without trading? It's those of you in school who just want to get a job that are the oddballs. And if you ever do get a real job you will quickly learn that you are just trading labor for money.

1.) once you're over 30...you feel reluctant to say your age -- you kind of just mumble it.

2.) Daily.

3.) Approx 6 years. but that's kind of more or less...just following/studying/paper trading the markets. Actually trading is much less.

4.) o_O The Fall 2008 Housing Crisis Market Bubble introduced me to the markets. It was making news headlines everyday of stocks rising and falling great percentages...i was Hooked to get in on some of that action! my bank was paying me shit.
I am So grateful for the Fall 2008 Market implosion! ...I wouldn't be here today...if it wasn't for the Housing Crisis.
(you can kind of say...a star was born...as a result of the big bang...lol)

5.) Money. is always. the motivation.

Hi guys, thank you for filling out those questions. It is highly appreciated and also interesting to see.

I like living a rich lifestyle while saying "fuck off" to the Corporate World.

To become filthy rich. What else? :)

Get rich or die tryin' is the trader's ethos, with a subconscious emphasis on the latter scenario.

Thank you for answering! Would you guys have the time to answer the other questions too?

Hi Loyek590, thank you for your feedback. Feedback is always welcome. My friend actually does have 'real-life' respondents. She is curious to see if answers here are different from them.

As for the trading labor for money, I agree to that.

no prob, in case you haven't noticed, unlike what they show you on tv where everybody is constantly buying and selling, most traders go through long periods of boredom waiting for something to happen, so we like to chit chat about trading and just about any other subject you can think of. What are your other questions?

this time I promise we may tell the truth

1. How old are you? 40

2. How often do you trade on average? daily
Daily, weekly or yearly

3. How long have you been trading? 4 years active trading, 20 years as a investor

4. How were you introduced to online trading? 2008 crash. My little portfolio was destroyed so I decide to learn to trade and know how the markets works

5. What is your motivation to trade? Could you explain your motivation? make money

1. 28
2. Used to trade a lot intraday, now trade more daily+ timeframes as I have found it easier for me to be profitable on higher timeframes due to less impact of transaction costs. With higher volatility as of late, have taken more intraday trades because there is adequate daily range for my method .
3. 7 years
4. A kid in one of my classes told me about an IPO of a company he worked for, a wind company in MN. When it IPO'd it went from like 3 to 5 in a couple weeks. I was hooked. THat company is now trading for about .10c So there is a lesson to be learned there too :) lots of companies go tits up and the industry can be full of crooks, shady insiders, ceo's ect ect.
5. Make money, and I love the game. "largest poker game in the world" enjoy watching the global flow of capital.
