Why do you trade?

Dunno.. sounds like someone who verifies the trades. You ask about the floor. My take is that there aren't many/any jobs on the floor. Historically the floor trader acted as an intermediary between retail/broker order flow and institutional orders. By acting as the middle man he could profit a tidy sum. However, most of this style trading is now handled by automated trading software. You may have 1 guy watching an auto trading box.

Reported trading styles are involved in scalping, high frequency arbitrage, market making, and spreading.

Historically, there were many trading jobs: Market maker, Floor trader, Prop Trader, Day trader, hedge fund, and non hedge-fund institutional. It is mostly just bots and institutional traders left these days.

Quote from Chris Paciello:

Anybody work as a Trade Checker? Or know of someone who does?

I'm working as a trader water bottle handler.
I bring water bottles to traders hoping they will give me some info.

Some call me lazy or leech,
I call myself a " VP of trader bottle handling."
Looks good to the chicks.

Oh yeah, chicks dig traders!! And dogs love trucks.

I've always wondered what type of water the "real traders" drink, can you tell us? Or did they make you sign a NDA?

Time to make the doughnuts...
