Why do you trade?

I have a question: What does a Back Office/Trade Checker do exactly? Anyone here current hold or has held this position before? What was it like? What is the average pay?

Thank you

I have never held this position, but would venture to say the majority of the time is spent covering the arses of those who make the real money.

My guess is BO/TC pays $35-45k/year, plus benes...correct?? Unless you're working in NYC, then it's probably $70-80k, for the "cost of living."

Ay chihuahua, post number 440. The best Mopar engine ever made!! But the 318 was more dependable...

That's what I was thinking. Is this on the floor position? How do you check the trades exactly? And are they the floor trades?

Make sure the client gets screwed.

If client gets screwed=good trade. LOL!! :D

I trade because of the potential to gain extraordinary wealth.

I notice your use of the word "potential."

Does that mean you're a "ninety-nine percenter"??

Occasionally there is a need to correct mistaken trades; it is called "busting a trade"

Read all about it for 06MAY.

The market owners busted many trades that happened on that day.

the misbehavior that the owners felt happened were all busted during a brief time interval of the perceived market's mistaken operations.

Thanks, Jack. That was just my personal bitterness toward brokerage firms seeping into my posts. And a few glasses of Absolut and OJ... :p

Back office is a necessary part of any firm, and I'm sure it's a noble profession. I would expect starting pay around $35k, unless you're in a big city, or willing to...

But here's my question: Why??
