Why do you trade?

Quote from DHOHHI:

I trade because it's my livelihood. I've done this full time for 15+ years. My background was Stats/Math/Artificial Intelligence/Expert Systems that I used in corp. world and I saw that I could use some of that background to help me in my trading.

was trading something that you planned all the along or being forced by circumstances?

when did you know I could make it in trading?

Quote from NoDoji:

If you wanted to hire someone to trade your money, the reason you should hire me is because I trade using a written trading plan that's proven itself profitable through varying market conditions for over a year.

I like a business where, if I apply the rules of my plan, I produce a steady paycheck that's not dependent on customers/clients, employees or economic conditions.

I like a business where I can work from home.

I like the fact that there's no dress code so I don't have to spend time in Mall Hell keeping up with the latest business fashions.

If my friend calls and says, "Hey, let's go hiking!" I can just go.

I think what I like best is that the market is not random, it's incredibly predictable if you learn to trade as the casino instead of the gambler, and the income potential is tremendous whether the economy is booming or busting.

The most important qualities for consistent trading success are the ability to trade what's happening in front of you, not what you believe should be happening, and the ability to leave your ego at the door when you step into the live trading arena.

Lots of good responses like this one and the one that simply said Freedom. The above quote is really important in that once you build your foundation and create a profitable trading strategy, you really have the most secure job in the world.

If you're employed, you're at the mercy of your employer, economic trends, customers, etc. I used to be an entrepreneur and I can tell you that is risky as heck because of everything that goes into a business. The only way we go down is if the stock market goes down and that probably means the end of society. Work hard: this is a good field.

For me personally, besides the above, I just find trading to be fascinating. I love the analytical thinking, strategy development and just keeping up with macro business news and trends. Watching CNBC everyday and making money is also great.

to engage in the financial markets with a skillset & passion to earn a living every week. money does buy freedom if applied correctly. As a self-employed business owner i can do whatever i want & have unlimited earning potential. Nothing better then to do what you love & be rewarded for it. That is freedom

If you felt you had what it takes to be a trader or a position within this industry. How would you explain your skills, desire, qualifications, etc. to obtain a certain position.

If I was to hire someone ... Tell me what you have to offer, why should it be you? Not about track records or anything like that. What makes you qualified as deserving of it?

Quote from Lucias:

Chris.. While I've just started trading with real money -- some might not even consider me a trader....

Quote from Lucias:

...I do offer training/mentoring....

Hey, uh, Lu...Can you, er, uh, explain this?

Quote from Chris Paciello:

I would want someone to train me instead of just doing it for me....

Chris, how much would you pay for training?

"I have the commitment to persist through more blood, sweat, and tears to reach my ultimate goals than anyone else who steps foot in this office and I will prove that to you if you hire me. "

That's what I would say.

You better be able to back up your claim after making such a statement also. First in office, last out of office ect.

Good post, Zr. Unfortunately, talk is cheap. A mouth can say anything. Follow thru is a bitch.
