Seriously, my next pet project's gonna have to be R... Looks like there's a sh-tload of fun to have with this stuff!
(And in case anyone's wondering, I don't mean that sarcastically. I may have no diploma, but I still enjoy my math.)
While I agree that Surf is spellcheck-adverse, in this case mine didn't know that one.
Reminds me of a long time ago when I was given a text to translate, but it was highly specific to biotechnology. Even Le Grand Robert didn't have most of the terms in there, and I ended up humbly giving the text back to the client. Luckily things have improved online since then.

I truly enjoy the technical challenge of understanding the subject. I obtain gratification from the knowledge of having eviscerated all possible explanations and clarified all logical ties between elements. I can and indeed have deployed over many years (long before joining here) levels of effort that qualify as maniacal and obsessive. I go about the quest for understanding with incredible zeal, with all of my apparently above average IQ (multiple tests over the years) and without sparing myself.
Translating my knowledge into practice suffers from over-ambition, exhaustion (poor self management, poor sense of measure), difficulties in dealing with emotions, over-analysis induced indecisiveness and impulsiveness. The over ambition may actually hide a subconscious self sabotage intent consequence of a low self esteem upbringing.
I refuse to adopt a systematic way of trading and can argue rationally against it but there may be some deeper issues at play. I am convinced of having superior understanding of the game than practically everybody else on here and will on occasion derive pleasure from showing it off. Anybody wanting precious insights into trading can look at my posts. ...Yes. I can be quite arrogant.

I have found through the years that not everyone's goal was to make money, most want others to see they made it after so many years of losing, others thought once they made it they be happy or have those around them give respect. I got into it for the money only, "Greed Is Good".
I reached my Goal this year, and not going stop trading, I retired/quit job I had in 1999, took me so long to overcome and continue to overcome my short comings mentally, always seems even today to second guess what I think, but at least I trade per Trading Plan, but mentally I still have emotional thoughts of what the market should do. And sometimes think I have developed masochism as getting signals that just are plain scary are taken. But the good trades are often masked by harsh chart patterns.
Is it worked when you enjoy doing it and for yourself?

ON the other side, I had another trader who was swearing by the "sexually transmitted demons" philosophy.
Before recommending whichever advice, I preferred to wait and see to find out who was right.
Now you are suggesting jail time!!!
So far, one way that has shown effectiveness is :
At various times, various stages, different reasons:
* at the start, due to huge beginner luck, it was about excitement, intellectual curiosity, spending like there was no tomorrow as if the market was an ATM.
That was a great time : only draw back too much innocence and naivety. But at least I was excited to find out all these ways of trading. My huge problem was which one to chose as I seemed to have the magic click!
* then, the beattings came in ( magnified by some "un-godly" people) . And it was about "finding myself", "understanding myself". I did not like the jumping into "spirituality" because of the situation. But I DID IT!!!! Including this very hard www.dhamma.org !!! YEAH!!!! And I found God again.
* Now, I will say just one thing : the money, but from the market.
Yes I said it : $$$$$$$$. As my projects are cash consuming.
But I am nowdays all about minimizing risks to myself.
Trading : I will trade for many years to come.
Only thing that will change : risk exposure.
I can't see myself confusing Las Vegas with the trading screen.

Shame markets are closed of a weekend especially a Sunday, cause I'm generally BORED as all Sundays
