By the way the 2nd guy is British and:

What is kind of BS. He was screwed for running online gambling and the US government was closing it down.

I created a poorly worded title to this thread. any helpful suggestion how to reword it?
the point behind this thread is why do people whose business activity is legal in their home countries visit the US where same activity is considered to be illegal.

there was no crime committed in the non-citizens home country.
the crime , I suppose was communicating with US residents.

these people have lawyers and know their industry. in one case, maybe the person didn't anticipate/know that his plane was going to make a short stay-over in the US. it was either bad planning or bad luck, if the plane made an unforeseen landing in the US.
