Why do people fear death?

Because its human nature to fear that which you don't understand.
While I don't like the idea of death, it is inevitable. If anything scares me, it is debilitating disease or injury.

so you never feared death before fathering?
more likely the fear was already there : can you remember why you then feared death so that we
can dig deeper into some reasons people fear death.
As a disclaimer : I no longer fear death, since I have put all my things in order, so that even if it has
a possible scarry side as some say ( including medical doctors who do near-death experiences), I have real
hope that I'll finish on the right side. Obviously before "I cleaned up", I used to fear death.
Because it can hurt so damn bad getting there!
What about those who die with - litteraly - a smile on the face?
and for the most part, it's out of our control
