Why do people blab predictions?

Quote from qdz2:

Why do people do this? Analysts do it. Newsletter writers do it. Media reporters (are they journalists?) do it. They have apparent purposes to serve. But amazingly, most investors and traders like to give their useless two-cents to others by every opportunity they get. Of course, sometimes it includes myself. Is there psychological reason behind this phenomena?

Keep your prediction to yourself, okay!
(I mean, let's keep our prediction to ourselves.)

:p

as far as investors and traders "blabbing", I think to break it down to a basic psychological level.....human beings strive for ACCEPTANCE.

I agree with the above.

For the people who are paid to predict of course there is a reason.

For those of us on ET, I think it is a matter of conversation and perhaps recognition. Since most of us are TA-type traders, our predictions don't really matter anyway.... being wrong is just about as good as being right.

:)

predicting is fun. Predicting is a bet that doesn't cost any money. What you should ask yourself is why does it make you upset when other people predict ?

You hit the nail on the head.
