Why do people believe day trading will get them rich quick?

No serious operator would waste there time there? Perhaps > 200,000 forum members, among other reasons.

Supported by bookmakers? Do you mean spread betting support? They are based in England and their environment is different than ours. That is illegal here. Foolish to advertise a service that is illegal, seems to me.

I'm tempted to use the "I" word again.

I just wasted my time reading the rest of the thread. What you say above is exactly the opposite of what happened. Person after person who actually trade(d) options professionally came into the thread and clearly illustrated how you have no idea what you're doing. Sick of your evasive answers and weak attempts at being cute, they all eventually gave up...noting that you're obviously not going to take your head out of the sand and will push forward regardless.

So congratulations, I guess...you've worn down a bunch of people who actually knew what they were talking about and were generous enough to try and help.

Do you need some kind of license/certification/etc to teach this stuff? Are you in the U.S.?

Your interpretation and mine differ. This can happen even among people of good will.

And yet there are the results. And they are undisputed.

There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit.
"Such bad luck," they said sympathetically.
"We'll see," the farmer replied.
The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses.
"How wonderful," the neighbors exclaimed.
"We'll see," replied the old man.
The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune.
"We'll see," answered the farmer.
The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son's leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out.
"We'll see" said the farmer.

Give the guy a break. It's obvious he's a tool and can't trade (same for that Jack guy), there is really no need to spell it out. Anyone who doesn't see that themselves deserves to have their money taken. Maybe they'll learn a lesson.
