I'm edging towards #1. What do you think?
I don't know if it's a legitimate attribution, but I can live with it.

Seriously? What possible edges could the video have revealed?2. He revealed some edges in the video that he didn't want out.
%%I have two theories.
1. He didn't want his institutional investors knowing he's into technical analysis, especially stuff like Elliot Waves. TA has a bad reputation among institutional investors like pension funds, etc. This could result in reduced inflows to his hedge fund.
2. He revealed some edges in the video that he didn't want out.

I side with the article that suggests he may have not liked the way his demeanor was presented on film while putting on trades. It looked tense and a bit volatile. Perhaps that's not the way he wished to portray himself. Just guessing.

I watched the video and did not find any special edges that were revealed. Any one spotted the edges that I missed out?
I get more benefits reading elitetraders forum than watching that video. Thankfully, no elitetraders here (not that I'm aware) are trying their best to delete past posts and threads like PTJ.
Interestingly, it was a Richard Dennis interview on PBS that a friend told me about in the early '90s that got me interested in the markets. I ordered the transcript of the show and it went from there. Unfortunately, that's where any similarity between me and PTJ ends.PTJ told Jack Schwager he got interested in trading after reading a Rich Dennis article.
I think neither.
Once he made a name for himself and began accumulating AUM after the crash, he likely saw no upside in this video being out there, and perhaps saw the publicity as a potential negative given most HF managers in those days wanted to fly under the radar.
If someone thinks there is anything that could be construed as an edge in the video (even in 1987) I would be interested to know.
Also, drinking beer in the middle of the night while trading DEM is probably not a great PR move, although I would probably have done the same thing.
