Why did my graphics card have to explode TODAY

Get to my computer, turns on, but just get a blinking cursor. Restart like 10 times, go through bios, nothing. Open it up, and parts of my graphics card are all over the place. Switch back to the onboard, and not its 9:50, and the one position I was trying to dump is halted...

Not a good morning.
 
It was an NVDA card, not the NVS though. I guess im in for the long haul. Probably will be halted through Oct 2. It's going to be a rough two weeks.

Your card have a fan? Never thought of that as much of a risk...

For your trading rig, you really should have a video card with passive cooling. Doesn't matter which, just one not subject to failure because the fan conks out.

100% right. or (like i do)-carefully clean it inside with compressed air couple times a year. imo-dust and overheat(because of dust) is very common reason for hardware failure
 
Passive cooling is something im going to look into now. As for dust, I keep it clean. Probably should have a redundant system around as well, I have most of it on another computer but some of my software is single use license so I was hesitant to buy two copies just for a backup.

Need to stop allowing your buddy to download porn overnight with your PC... some of these trojans can do nasty things...

I do alot of video editing for fun, which keeps my processors and HDD at 100% for hours on end, and I went with a liquid-cooling system that has options for all major components inside the PC. Look into it. I got tired of my PCs doubling as space heaters.
