Why did market jump Friday on strong job numbers? I thought that was bad. The narrative so far has been interest rates will rise unless inflation and jobs go down...now jobs are up...so why'd the market take a strong job number as positive for equities?

why do you think the market took a strong job number as positive for equities? Do you think that was the sole piece of information?

Explaining market moves with government data is useless.
so why did the mkt jump in your opinion when strong job numbers were until recently since as a negative for equities.

I did not realize asking questions created such annoyances here.

Because the market was oversold, sentiment negative, cycles / seasonality turning positive so the market was ready to move upward. You need to question your assumptions about the relevance of government data, which also is lagging data.
