Why did God......

Quote from Barth Vader:

Well, vhehn, this is not one of your better rebuttals, if I may say so.

Living near a freeway, is of course, a man-made construct.

Regarding the creation, these type of dangers were not present, in Adams' placement in Eden.

"...The fact that the creature can fall away from God and perish does not imply any imperfection on the part of creation or the Creator. What it does mean positively is that it is something created and is therefore dependent on preserving grace, just as it owes its very existence simply to the grace of its Creator.

A creature freed from the possibility of falling away would not really be living as a creature. It could only be a second God - and as no second God exists, it could only be God Himself. Sin is when the creature avails itself of this impossible possibility in opposition to God and to the meaning of its own existence. But the fault is that of the creature and not of God....it follows inevitably only from the incomprehensible fact that the creature rejects the preserving grace of God. What belongs to the nature of the creature is that it is not physically hindered from doing this. If it were hindered in this way, it could not exist at all as a creature. In that case, grace would not be grace and the creature would inevitably be God Himself................"

[ Church Dogmatics, III.1, The Doctrine of Creation, Karl Barth ]

In your analogy, I would offer that the child built the freeway which is presenting the possibility of mortal danger. But even so, there is a formidable wall placed between the two.......Grace.

Respectfully
that is about as convoluted circular reasoning as i have read in a while.

my rebuttal allowed for the possibility that your god existed in the senario. i was only pointing out that if he does exist he is a cruel unloving uncaring bastard that sets his subjects up for failing and is hardly worth worship.

OK, let me try my argument another way.....

Help me out by answering these two questions, based upon your remarks:

1) What is the one, and one only, main reason for your assumption that G-D is cruel ?

2) Is there anything in your world view that is worthy of worship ?

Thank You

there are many more than one reason but all you have to do is read the bible. the god depicted in the bible is a cruel vendictive monster.

no there is nothing worthy of worship.

Good morning vhehn,

Is your judgement of G-D , based upon a study of the Biblical record and the history of redemption contained therein, or would it possibly be based upon the actions, non-actions and hypocrisy of some individuals and organizations that name the name of Christ ?

Thank You

well. in reality no gods exist outside of the minds of believers. the concept of redemption is a church creation so they have something to sell to the sheep. the bible is a collection of books written by superstitious ignorant men who had no concept of science and who thought thunder and lightening were God himself speaking who were trying to explain their concept of God. your average 5th grader knows more about science and how the world works today than these men could ever hope to.

The very concept of sin comes from the bible. Christianity offers to solve a problem of its own making! Would you be thankful to a person who cut you with a knife in order to sell you a bandage?--- -Dan Barker, Losing Faith in Faith

This is just an opinion. My opinion. I believe everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion. I will end this introduction acknowledging that I don't care too about my opinion, so please don't expect to take yours too seriously.

To correctly address to question posed by the OP we must first clarify what God is or if it even exists.

In my opinion, God does exist, but not the God of the bible. God I define as energy and life essence that exists within each of us. This same God has created us perfect, since we are perfect for our own stage of development.

So if we are to see the bible story from this perspective, Adam did exactly what he had to do based on his level of development. Sin was created by the mind of men to justify his undeveloped nature, not by God as defined above.

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

Ezekiel 36:25-2725

Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit WITHIN you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit WITHIN you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

See Volente? See how this is someone trying to control. They tell you you are (filthy), and tell you they will make you clean. And they tell you they are better than you becasue they can cleanse you and will help you be better if you (keep their judgements and do them) This is control by they making someone feel bad (sinner), then they have a cure, but only if you listen and do not question. That is brainswashing control. And they offer a prize of being clean and a heart of flesh if they can make you under their control. And make you stop thinking for yourself.

The Old Testament "God" is absolutely a cruel, vindictive monster.
