Why am I not able to fill my buy position (shorting strategy)?

Hi, yesterday I shorted a high liquidity NYSE share that for about 35 minutes went -12%. During that time I tried to trade all the shares (buy) at market value (MKT ie no LMT order). I was not able to fill the position. After this the stock bounced back +>15% and I was not happy.

I was just trading for USD 1000 (small amount) so Im a little confused why I was not able to exit my position when there was so much activity for such a long time period at market value. Any ideas? And suggestions how to exit / buy the next time?

What stock are you talking about?

Hi thank you for your help. I actually still hold the position. It was sold 7th Aug 09:45:37am price 4.50 then I immediately put in a buy order mkt as the P&L was good but nothing happened and then it started going in red as you can see from yesterday’s development
