Who's the best Fed Chairman of all time?

Quote from Cache Landing:

That's what I'm getting from it too. A decision that had to be made. The other option was a complete collapse of the US monetary system.

DeGaulle was tendering our obligations and demanding payment in gold and emptying Fort Knox. That was the catalyst for closing the gold window the way I understand it. What I don't recall was the price then. If it was still 35$ - the French would have been beating our brains in - what a deal!

Quote from Daal:

the federal reserve doesn't control mortgage rates, that is controlled by the free market and the interest on long-term bonds, his rate cuts had little to do with the boom in housing(they control short-term interest). the fact that the tax code encourages home ownership(through tax deductions and tax free capital gains), a high demand for long-term treasury and mortgage securities and low inflation sent long-term rates down creating the boom not greenspan

The fed has direct control over the rates on ARM and the IO ARM mortages, which are typically indexed on the short rates. These mortgages are aslo the most risky ones.

Quote from scarylarry:

Hes a retard. don't make fun of him.

That will be his next scam, conning people out of donating their money for whatever mental disease he has.
